Did you know that the early May Bank Holiday has changed?
We’re sure you saw the bank holiday change sticker on your Dairy Diary, but just in case you missed it remember that the bank holiday is now on Friday 8 May (this change was announced late and after we had printed all the diaries!).
The first Monday of May is a bank holiday in the United Kingdom. It is called May Day in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It is known as the Early May Bank Holiday in Scotland.
In 2020, the early May Bank Holiday has been moved from Monday 4 May to Friday, 8 May to coincide with Victory in Europe Day, or VE Day, which marks the 75th anniversary of the formal end of World War II.
It’s not the first time that the Bank Holiday has been moved.
In 1995 it was moved from 1 May to 8 May to commemorate the 50th VE Day.
We hope you manage to enjoy your time despite the current circumstances.
Keep safe and well.
